Chess Terms : Queening Explained
Queening is a term in chess which refers to the act of promoting a pawn that has reached its eighth rank to be a queen. This is typically done as it's the most powerful piece, although the player has the option to choose a rook, bishop, or knight. This is often a significant game-changing event and can be a critical strategy in many games.
