Tarrasch Rule

The Tarrasch Rule is a principle in chess that states that rooks should be placed behind passed pawns, whether they are your own or your opponent's. This is because, in the former case, a rook can support the advancement of the pawn towards promotion, and in the latter case, a rook can prevent the pawn from advancing. This rule is named after Siegbert Tarrasch, a German chess player of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
