Waiting Move

A Waiting Move in chess is a strategy where a player makes a move that does not pose any immediate threat or is non-committal, hence forcing the opponent to move and possibly create a weakness or concede some kind of advantage. It's a move designed to pass the turn back to the opponent without making any significant alterations to the position on the board. It's often used in particular positions where making a substantial move could be disadvantageous.
