What is Winning Position?
Chess Terms : Winning Position Explained
A winning position in chess refers to a situation in which one player has a significant advantage that, with correct play, should ultimately lead to winning the game. This advantage could be due to material superiority, better pawn structure, superior piece placement or an advantageous endgame scenario. However, even in a winning position, the player must still make accurate moves to secure the win. A game is not officially won until checkmate or resignation occurs.
