What is Zeitnot?

Zeitnot (German: "time trouble" ) is a situation in which a player has very little time remaining on the clock to complete their remaining moves. Zeitnot leads to rapid, often imprecise play and is one of the most stressful situations in competitive chess. See time pressure.
