What is Zwischenschach?

Zwischenschach is a German term in Chess which translates to in-between check. It refers to a tactic where a player, instead of playing the expected move, first inserts a check. Only after the opponent responds to the check, the player makes the originally expected move. This tactic can influence the dynamics of the game by gaining advantage in terms of position, material, or tempo.
