Zwischenschach (German: "in-between check" ) is a zwischenzug that delivers check. Instead of playing the expected move, the player first inserts a check, forcing the opponent to deal with it before the expected sequence resumes. A zwischenschach can change the dynamics of a tactical sequence significantly.
