In 2013, during the debt ceiling negotiations, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called the legislative strategy of tying immigration reform to budgetary matters—and threatening to shut down the government in the process—as a path that would breed “governmental chaos.”

    Hilarious.

Reminds me of Obama before he became President.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

Did you see his speech today? Your beloved Trumpf did not push his party to vote yes so the repubs voted no even though there was an apparent agreement between Schumer and Trumpf early on but Trump said NOTHING to his bunch, just like the intellectual coward he is, say nothing let the repubs do his dirty work. There was agreement even on the damned wall, dems said ok to that too keep kids insurance and DACA.

DACA is a goat fuk. Those kids are now adults, working, paying taxes, paying rent, buying food, cars, internet, cell phones and such.

So exactly what would be the difference in deporting 800,000 of them V just picking 800,000 American citizens and deporting THEM? Those DACA kids probably half of them don't even speak Spanish anymore. So sending them back would be cruel and unusual punishment for the crime of being a baby illegal in the US. Which was why DACA was written up in the first place.

To force those kids to face deportation NOW after they are fully Americanized just shows how little the rebubs care for humans. They ONLY care for business, screw mere people.
    So prove me wrong.

How can you resolve the illegal immigration problem before securing the border?

I would venture a guess that the GOP would be all over DACA and making the illegals legal so long as a wall is constructed to prevent any more illegal immigration.

You are an absolute ASSSWIPE. You don't even know there is so much less immigration now, farmers in California and Oregon cannot find enough workers to pick the crops already there in the fields. A wall won't stop drug traffic. They will just dig tunnels under the absolutely STUPID wall. But hey, you don't care about pesky details like that do you?

There is less immigration now, now that Trump is in office. People in these other countries know that he ran on securing the border and opposed those who wish to let Mexico slowly annex the US back into Mexico via immigration. As a result, many less immigrants tried to make their perilous journey.

In fact, Operation Wet Back during the Eike administration proves that a wall is not needed. All that is needed is for the government to be unified in their cause to expunge illegals out of the country and make them come in legally. Illegals simply self deported as they could no longer work and knew they were not welcomed.

So why do I want a wall? It's because the country is divided. Soon we will have another Dim in office embracing illegals like Obama in their various sanctuary cities and paths to citizenship that is cheaper and easier, so immigration will increase. That is why the wall is needed. We need to try and discourage the illegal immigration even though the government may be trying to encourage it and continue to allow them to work in the US illegally.

And as a result, many more will die trying to make the perilous journey if no wall is built.

Like on almost everything, you have your facts wrong. In reality, illegal immigration declined under Obama:

The number of illegal immigrants living in the US hit its lowest level in a decade under President Barack Obama's administration, a study suggests.

There were 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the US in 2015 according to the Pew Research Centre, the lowest number since 2005.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/us-illegal-immigrants-numbers-lowest-level-decade-barack-obama-study-donald-trump-undocumented-a7702976.html

And where was the biggest drop from. Em, Mexico:

Mexicans have long been the largest group among undocumented immigrants, the Centre noted, but their numbers have declined since peaking at 6.9 million in 2007.

In 2015, the Centre's estimate said the number declined to 5.6, making up 51 per cent of the total undocumented immigrant population.

The Wall is a stupid idea though I'm certainly in favor of measures making it harder for people not in the country legally to get jobs including severe penalties for those who employ them including jail and/or prison. How about you?

Well the economy kinda tanked under Obama, which made people want to immigrate illegally decline. However, they still came and even under Trump they still come.

    "The economy tanked under Obama".

Reality really doesn't exist for right wingers.

I'm sure you think the economy would similarly instantly "tank" under any Democratic President, so illegal immigration from Mexico wouldn't be much of a problem, would it?

    You beat me to it.

Arpaio used to claim that he can't cherry-pick which laws to enforce and yet he consistently ignored recent laws meant to punish businesses who hire illegal immigrants.

It was recently reported that the Border Patrol is going out into the desert and finding these caches of water left by churches and others concerned about people dying trying to cross the desert and emptying the water drums. That will have a bigger effect on people dying trying to cross.

The wall is the type of idea a five-year-old would think of. This is why it's so popular with Trump and his base.
