If reporting news was only so easy. When we read news articles now is this present era, we are challenged with motive behind the articles. Either we have pro life, free enterprise, and other opinions from the right or right to choose,Government intervention from the left. So when the journalist puts pen to paper, his or hers article becomes a part of their an extension of their views and not just journalism.
You can see it more clearly when the article or story portrayed endorses with adoring adjectives and covers another with demeaning adverbs. It now reaches out to touch the emotion of subscribers to inflame a narrative on both sides..... So Sad
How can two walk together lest they be in agreement ?
Where is the compromise, and working together for the good of all ?
Your opinion is not higher than mine nor mine than yours. But we seem to want to put on others our opinion and our obligations on others to be responsible.
If you want an abortion, You should not make me pay for it.
If I don't believe in abortion, I should not stop you from getting one.
If you want to worship Allah, I should not stand to stop you.
But if I want to worship the way I want to, you should not put restrictions on me either.
When it comes to your rights and mine I think the difference is accountability. We all have to be accountable for ourselves and live with our decisions whether financially or emotionally.
    So back to the subject.....
Can people separate themselves from their biases as they cover the news. I have seen some that can and some that are struggling to do so.
We have so many divisive organizations whose only objective is to keep people from getting along. This has gone on long enough and we need to find a way to bring this Great Country back together. Back to treating all people with respect and honor. Putting others above ourselves to bring back unity and true Love.
There is an old saying ...."What won't kill us will make us stronger"
I am hopeful that we can use this post as a place to have real discussions and be healing to each and every American

So if a person wants to kill her baby when it is 3 days old, should she be allowed to do it?

In other words, are you in favor of all abortion? How about partial birth abortion?

I am not in favor of any kind of abortion but everyone has a right to choose and then live with the actions that follow after their decision. Life and death ....blessing and cursing.... you choose.

Part of the media problem is the government itself--- or, more accurately, those people in a position of power to make legislative changes which impact the citizens.
Of the three branches, we have seen an ebb and flow of power over the course of history with a more recent flow toward the predominance of the 'final say' kicked toward the judicial leg, which is why nominees/appointments for the bench have become the golden ticket for both sides: they all understand that when push comes to shove, those eight people are the equivalent of the eventual ruling class, the krytocracy.

Thank God the founding fathers were savvy enough to safeguard the fourth estate, a free press.
    But wait!
Those power hungry despots found a way around that contingency, however.
They denuded the power of a free press by decriminalizing propaganda used on the American public by the government: there is no penalty for false reports.

Andrew Fletcher said, "If a man were permitted to make all the ballads, he need not care who should make the laws of a nation."
The press was intended to sing the truth of the actions of those in the three branches of government, a clarion call of accountability.
The song the press sings today is nothing more than the sad lies and lines they are fed by the unscrupulous makers of law.

Unless and until the governed take back over the government, the fleecing will continue by the wolves.

And I have a right to choose to kill somebody if I like?

Sure, I do. The only question becomes, will the law be on my side?

It used to be that everyone got their news from one person, Walter Cronkite. He would say at the end of his broadcasts, "And that's the way it is" and everyone assumed that was the way it was.

Wrong! Where was the press to let us know about the myriad of affairs that JFK indulged on? That's right, they ran and hid and pretended it was not happening. Where was the press when FDR locked up innocent Japanese Americans against our Constitutional rule of law? That's right, they ran and hid like the good little tools they were.

No, nothing has changed other than the blinders being lifted. The press is nothing more than a propaganda machine controlled by the powers that be.

As for unity, do I want to be united to those who promote what I deem as infant genocide? Do I want to be united with those who think that teaching children in school what is right and wrong and moral is a violation of the separation of church and state?

    Not really.

And here's the beauty of the whole charade: now that Buzzfeed and CNN have been outrageously and hilariously exposed for the hack/shill factories they both are, such venerable institutions as the NYT and The Guardian--- both equally complicit in the spreading of the dreaded "fake news"--- are going after the former decrying their lapse of ethical journalism.
'Dog eat dog,' as they say.
Or is it 'no honor among lying, treacherous, traitorous thieves'?
One (or both) of those; either one.
Let them all tear each other apart, since the public is not likely to trust any of them any more.

What a complete load of bollocks this thread is.

    Is there objective news?
    Really?
A Priori reasoning about God and shadow worlds... yes... when you're discussing the reality as a theory.

In practice, in the world we feel (whether real or not), you can see what something is.

Isreal? Go there. Hear the hatred.
Hunger in Africa? Go there. See the hunger.
A porn circle in a pizza hut? Go there and eat a bloody pizza... there's nothing there!

    Get a FFing grip!

This fake news was so poorly done it's almost as if Trump hired someone on the inside to sabotage what little credibility they had left by printing these stories..

Either that or they were smoking reefer. It's all legal now and all.

Does that include killing children after they are born?

No, jackass: you get a grip.
Here are TWO video of hundreds available which depict a portion of the crap that has been going on that "family friendly" pizza shop.
Realizing you don't have any children (which is a great service you've undertaken for the world at large and for those children who would have had the misfortune of being fathered by such a perv), I nonetheless wonder if even if a sick f*** as you would have the temerity and irresponsibility to take your progeny to such a wonderful, innocent pizza shop as seen here.

    FFing hell man.
It's a nerdy teenager yapping on about subliminal messaging!!!

You really want me to believe her over CNN, Reuters, the BBC...

    You know what?
Mail your convictions on this matter to John Pilger (who's really not loved by the mainstream media and politicians... for legitimate reasons; from their perspectives) and see how hard he laughs in your bloody face.

    Oh, drat!
    You pulled the CNN card!
That ought to end all discussions, given their unrelenting pursuit of truth no matter what.

    You're a tool.

You call the pictures from that pizza shop owner "subliminal"?!?
What an hysterical idiot you must be in real life.
God knows you play above the grade here.

Check out John Pilger, Robert Fisk and Jeremy Bowen.

    Then come back.

There is an objective reality out there and, if you're in the right place at the right time... you're gonna feel it.

All this right wing rubbish is, well, rubbish.
    travel. Meet people.

    You'll see.
