As the Parliamentary elections in Lebanon draw near, I am going to Lebanon for a couple of weeks (starting next week) to lend my support to the Opposition. And I realized, how great would it be if I started another thread, which would so soon dissolve into a racist flamefest completely irrelevant to the topic at hand, about the Elections?
For the layman:
March 14 Alliance - anti-Syrian and pro-Zionist - includes capitalist Future Movement, Progressive Socialist Party, fascist Qornet Shehwan Gathering and Lebanese Forces
Opposition - pro-Syrian and anti-Zionist - includes al-Amal, Hezbollah, secular anti-Zionist Free Patriotic Mvt, Tripoli Bloc, and Lebanese Communist Party
In short, while Israel was bombing Lebanon in 2006, the Opposition actually drove them out while the Alliance was just sitting in their posh seats waiting for something to happen.
I'm actually not sure where the GOTC is in all this, but I feel it's such an insignificant (and apolitical) group that it doesn't matter.
