"Liam Neeson Interview: Rape, Race, and How I Learnt Revenge Doesn't Work"
"...the actor recounts a disturbing incident from his past."

Liam Neeson discovered that a woman close to him had been raped.
He asked her if she could identify her rapist. She did not know his name.
Yet she knew that he's a black man.

So, for about the next week, Liam Neeson went around hoping to
meet a black man (who may or may not have been her rapist) who
would give him an excuse to kill him.

Liam Neeson attributed his thirst for revenge to having grown up
in the violent culture of Northern Ireland.

    Should Liam Neeson be forgiven?

That depends. Is he an ardent Leftist?

If so, then all should be forgiven. If not, screw him.

If he is an ardent Leftist, he can color his face black and act the fool and still win office in the US.

"Hollywood Shocked By Liam Neeson’s “Awful” Story Of Racist Revenge"

By the way, there's a film genre known as the 'rape-revenge' film.
After a woman or a girl has been raped, her father, brother, husband, or boyfriend
attempt to track down her rapist(s) and execute 'vigilante justice'.
In feminist versions, the victim herself or other women seek revenge.

"Was he charged with some kind of assault?"
    --Sonhouse

Who? Liam Neeson? He never assaulted anyone; he only thought about doing it.
Should he be charged with thinking about doing something illegal?

If Sonhouse refers to the alleged rapist, as far as I can infer (Liam Neeson has withheld
details in order to prevent the victim from being identified), he never was arrested.

    Forgiven for having revenge fantasies??

I dream of knocking cyclists from their racing bikes and shouting: “Take this you FFing road nazi.” as I rape them with their bicycle pumps.

    Revenge fantasies are fine.

Liam Neeson did more than fantasize about killing his friend's rapist.
He actually armed himself (with a 'cosh' ) and went out looking for a black man to kill.

What's most disturbing is not that Liam Neeson went out onto the streets seeking revenge, but that he was willing to exact that revenge on any random black man who gave him an excuse to do so.

A question we should all ask is "Is hostile prejudice somewhat more excusable because of negative experiences?" For example, if a black man is treated poorly by a police officer, is it more understandable that he'd have animosity toward all police? Perhaps three more specific questions could be

    1. Do we agree that he should at least strive to overcome this animosity?
    2. Do we hold less contempt for those with such animosity because we recognize it is difficult to overcome?
    3. Is it best to commend those who overcome prejudice or is it best to condemn those who have had prejudice at any time in the past?

However we answer these questions, we should apply the standard the same to all skin colors.

It’s all a storm in a bloody tea cup.

Say this happened in Iceland in the 70’s.
There’s a good chance if you went out looking for a black person, you’d bump into the rapist.

Say your wife was raped in the South African townships by a ginger haired, sunburned semi-Albino... would it be hate-crime to go out looking for a white skinned dude to beat the crap out of?

Now, if Neeson was in uptown Harlem in New York and said this... then yeah.. pretty absurd.

But he didn’t best anybody and he was angry.
How the hell can people keep getting judged for rubbish that happened years ago?
