When i just attempted to capture a knight with my pawn the square which the knight was on turned blue. It did not affect my ability to make a move, i just want to know what it is from.

Well cheesey since you asked, The Blue comes from the little blue
dots whent the electron beam in the CRT gets deflected into the
path of the blue phosphorescent coating area. Now Red on the other
hand.....
Seriously (if I can ever be in such a state for more than a couple of
minutes) I think blue maybe is just what is the default for your
browser, mine turn green when I click on it.
RUSS?

I am using an LCD, thank you very much. The squares turn green when i click on them too. Every once in a while one turns blue, and i can't make it go away.

It happens to me when I drag my mouse whilst clicking on a piece, just as I would do to highliht text.

It can be fixed in this case by clicking away from this to highlight nothing.

That doesn't work here.
When it happens to me, I either have to refresh or close out of the site and then return.
