For others: you'll have to look somewhere at the bottom of the canvas that appears next to the board. It is placed at a distance from the text "white won" (or alike) without indicating directly why, oddly enough... At the bottom it will most likely say something like it was a stalemate, or wether someone resigned, or it was a checkmate.
