you can set up such games using the "Set games" option ("New games" "Set up your own board" )

This was not possible before due to limitations of the board interface. This was addressed as part of the October 25 release. (New board UI, designed for variants, including even 4 player chess for when/if I add it!)

960 is fully supported on the live site, and as from a few days ago, with ratings too.

So now all the complex parts are in place.

All that remains now is a few decision on how to present the variants among the regular daily/cc style games. (e.g. Merge with the current My Games page, or separate variant pages?) There are no difficult technical obstacles now.

TLDR : Yes, it will be soon once a few relatively minor UI issues have been considered.
