What does "recurring" charge mean? Does that mean it's automatic? Or do I have to re-up manually? I'd prefer it not be automatic.

It is automatic. You get sent an email before your expiry date though which allows you to cancel.

Or just send feedback now and ask them to take you off the renewing list.
