What are half moves and what is the purpose of them?🙂

A move is when both white and black make a move. A half move is only one side moves.

1. e4 e5

This game has had one move played. Or two halfmoves.

The reason the number of them is displayed is so you can tell at a glance whether you can claim a draw using the 50 move rule.
