I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, as I cannot seem to get any reply
or comments to my posts on Game History Bug. Clicking alert
    moderator doesn't seem to help.

    Anyway, here it is again:

One favorite opponent and I message in great detail about our
games as they progress. We are trying to develop our calculation
    skills.

When I play back a game history to check my handwritten notes, the
game history lists the move numbers incorrectly. For example, the
starting position and white's first move are listed as move one, but
black's first move is listed as move two. The error continues
throughout playback of the game history.

This makes it difficult to discuss the game. Can anyone suggest a way
of correcting this? Messaging 8 ...cxd, which is shown by the Game
History as as 9 cxd for every move discussed gets a little
cumbersome and confusing, especially during exchanges.

I believe that the listed move is the move about to happen, not a commentary on the state of the
board. That way, if someone resigns (accepts draw, etc.), you know when it happens.

Anyway, if both of you are using a system you think is flawed and both understand exactly how it
works, it seems that you shouldn't have that much difficulty adjusting your minds to be able to
    discuss the game.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure this was working.

No, I think the present setup is just an error, easily corrected by
initializing a variable to zero at the beginning of the game.

    Chuck,

You will have to have a bit more patience. Russ and Chrismo (the
people who run this site) are busy implementing lots of improvements
at present. They'll get round to you in due course. 🙂

Also PLEASE don't think that clicking the 'alert moderators' button will
bring your post to their attention. This button is for when you see
an 'offensive' post and think it should be deleted. I wondered why
someone thought your question was offensive! 😉

Anyway, send over a game (14 day timeout) - I'm here quite a lot...

Understatement of the year goes to Rhymester – an RHP resident
from nearly day one - and he doesn't go outside much. (And we love
    him for it 🙂 )

    Chuck,

I have taken note of your comment, and I will look into this at the
next available moment. I am a bit swamped with feedback, so I do
miss things, but perseverance will pay off in the end...
Over Xmas, if I can get rid of all my visiting relatives, I should have
    time to fix this.

On your player table list, alot of those players do not exist, whats up.
Also, when you challenge some of those people, you can,t/are they
full, I thought if you were a member you had unlimited games.

Hello Ray, It is true that as a pawnstar one is entitled to an unlimited
number of games. However some people like to set a limit on the
maximum number of concurrent games they are playing before
automatically rejecting challenges. It's quite easy to let one's game
    numbers spiral out of control.

One way of finding out whether someone is available for a challenge
(they might not accept it of course, but at least it will go through) is to
go to "Find Player", enter in a ratings band and then search for a list
    of players in that band.

The ones that aren't at their limit will have "challenge player" written
by their name. The ones at their limit won't have this. (please
someone correct me if I've got that wrong).

Hope this helps a bit 🙂

    Mark,

You are correct. I will try to improve the rejection text so this is all
    clearer.

BTW: I noticed you posted at 10:30pm last night, and 5:30 again this
morning - do you ever go to sleep?

Although I have had some troubles in sleeping, last night was actually
a very good night for sleep! My secadian rhythm (is that right?!) has
been all out of shape recently so am trying to get back into a routine
by waking up early in the mornings, thus making me veeery tired
come the evening so I have no choice but to fall asleep.

I got up yesterday at around 7am and come 10.30pm I was
shattered. I made that post and was fast asleep by 11pm. I woke up
at around 5am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so decided
to stay awake for the rest of the day in the hope that come 11pm
tonight I'll be similarly exhausted and will sleep.

More truly fascinating aspects of Mark's World coming soon 😕
