Quoted from the Terms of Service.

...Cause for such termination shall include, but not be limited to, (a) breaches or violations of the TOS or other incorporated agreements or guidelines, (b) requests by law enforcement or other government agencies, (c) a request by you (self-initiated account deletions)

You could try "send feedback" at the bottom of the page.
You CAN just leave if you want to.

    edit; yeah right ,as above.

The account termination simply results in you not being able to log into the account anymore. Your account can not be deleted. Doing so would leave games in the system with missing players or else it would delete the games and change the ratings of your opponents. Once a game is played, it is here forever (even the early test games that Russ played against Chris).

For example, notice that all the banned players still have profiles and games here, but none of them can log in any longer. This is how a terminated accounts stays.

they should atleast delete your email address and personal details like that. of course you'd still need the actual account to be there so that games aren't deleted and ratings stay the same

Well, no-one can see your e-mail address anyway. There isn't any other personal information that you have to provide to join the site, is there? I don't remember there being anything else.
