How do I get an avatar?

Can someone please explain to me step-by-step on how to get an avatar? I really don't know what to type in for the URL. Can you also explain to me what an URL is? Thanks.

A URL is commonly known as an Address or location.
Its an addressing system that locates documents or such like on the Internet.
URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator.

If you have a pic on the net you want to use and you know its URL (right click pic and select properties to get URL) then you are laughing.
Otherwise you can upload your pic onto a website and get its URL from that.
Alternatively send me pic, I will host it on my website and will let you know its URL.
