Hello,

I am playing a quite boring game with an opponent now. I have an advantage but he does not want resign yet. Instead of that I got a message saying mf to me from him.
I do not know all details of modern English slang but I suspect something about mother f......
Could anybody lighten me about the meaning of this? Thanks.

Depending on what just happened in the game or dialogue between you then I would guess you hit the nail on the head.
Possibly you just took his quenn or something.

He could just be asking if you are male/female, its a bit like a/s/l - age, sex, location.

He may be asking if you are interested in a date with his mother.

Urban Dictionary definition of mf:

mf has 2 meanings, often used as: (i) Mother F^cker (ii) My Friend definition (i) is more commonly seen in chatrooms; whereas definition (ii) seen in multiplayer games. if someone uses mf towards you, it's best to pretend you don't understand, so they will explain - either (i) or (ii).

How do you know this player doesn't want to resign yet? Do you keep pestering them and they decline?

Sounds like a possibility. If you find the game boring, you could resign and ENJOY a game with somebody else.

Why resign a game when you are in advantage?

I play a boring game now too. He maximally drags the moves. I'm a queen over and there is no way he can get even a draw. Still he takes three days for each move, and it's about 10 movs to mate. A month later we will have a result and the next round will begin. It's so boring.

Should I give up too? No way. I'm going to win.
Do I complain? No, not at all. He uses all the time he has the right, according to the rules, to use.
It's a very bad advice, to give up the game. Very bad advice.

Thank you guys! I got the answer. And please do not discuss about resigning in this thread. It was not the item.

Well, you really shouldn't be asking people to resign. Bad form.

You have these forums mistaken for a place where you can micro-manage the topic.

Anything you mention in your post is fair game for discussion.
