There would be a deluge of nondescript posts just to boost there post stats up, inviting even more rubbish posts in the forums.

Well, I am almost inclined to aggree, but not quite. Two reasons.

1) having a whole bunch of forum posts is not neccesarily a good thing.

2) The forums are already filled with rubbish. After all, that's what forums are for!

That is maybe, but you will get a very high increase of rubbish posts, and even a lot of blank posts. This has happened on many other sites that uses/used this system of showing number of posts a person makes. I must admit I wouldn't mind seeing this particular statistic but it would have a detrimental effect on the forums

yes, but just if the nb of posts are compared (like in the player tables), not when this number is in your profile.
the nb of recs could be in the player tables (or the profile)

I'm with eyeqpc on this. I've been on other forums where the number of posts had to be removed because people were posting worthless posts just to boost their post count.

I'd say let it be.

In fact, Most Active Poster used to be one of the player ranking tables on RHP, until it was removed because people were spamming the forums to inflate their post numbers.

I insist.
how many posts do people like thse want to make? 100? 10.000? or.... you don't know how many other (the "best" ones) made, so you can't compare yourself. There shouldn't be much competion on that.
my two cents,
