Has anyone got any ideas why it has suddenly developed a black background? It wasn't there when I set it (ages ago).

Perhaps the background changed when RHP resized your image. If you can copy off the original, and resize it to 50x50 and upload it, you should get your original background color back.

Was the background transparent? Be sure the transparency stays in your new image.

Also, was it an animated image? Animated images get crushed on resize, and you only see the first frame.
