Ratings?

Hi all, couldn't find any clarification on an query I have regarding ratings in the FAQ or here.

If you enter into a game with some one, the game takes a few weeks to complete and you lose, however when you finished the game the player has risen for example 100 points since when the game commenced. Is the rating calculated against your opponents rating at the completion or beginning of the game?
