Has there ever been a discussion about setting up a Masters scheme on this site??

By this i mean people of certain rating bands, say

    1000-1300
    1300-1600
    1600-1800
    1800-2100

Players who play in tournaments in these bands can get Norms, similar to the way masters are give their titles. Once a player has achieved 3 or 5
orms, in rated tournaments, they are given a band master title.😵

This way players can progress personally, even if they aren't good enouph to boost their rating to 2100!

perhaps if the bands are given colours, eg

    1000-1300 [yellow]
    1300-1600 [blue]
    1600-1800 [green]
    1800-2100 [purple]

Once a player has achieved the designated norms to hold a title in their band, their handle appears in the designated colour ~>😲

good idea, but I'd like to see smaller bands?

    under 1000 [black]
    1001-1200 [dark grey]
    1201-1400 [green]
    1401-1600 [dark orange]
    1601-1800 [blue]
    1801-2000 [red]
    2001-up [purple]

How ever it might get done, it would be nice. In the forums it would look very neat to know a person's general rating just the color of their name.

I mean't this as a way for players to set themselves appart from others of similar strength. The only problem is that once a player is good enouph to achieve a norm in one band, the chances are they are going to achieve a higher rating than their original band.

i.e. jo bloggs achieves 2 band norms in 1300-1600 and then boosts their rating to 1601.

I guess I might go green some day using your colors, but will probably be blue for a long time.

I had hopes of bouncing around green and dark orange with some chance of being blue some day!

Check this out sometime and poke some numbers in it.

It will give you win percents and show you how much better a 1580 rated player is than a 1320. I don't think they should have the same color.

At the moment, a player has a cup next to their name if they win a tourniment. How about if those cups are coloured into the aformentioned bands. Once you have three, you are a ban master 😲

Yeh whatever, the colours could be changed, they were just an example. I just think it would be kind of neat, cos some people play online for years and dream of getting a title but their standard stays about the same. It would be a good way for lower rated players to shine in their own way 🙂
