Tournaments for just ~1600 - 2000 rated players?

Hi all, not sure if this has been asked before or if it's even an issue for anyone else but I noticed there are never any tournaments available that have rating requirements for the 1700 to about the 2000 crowd. There are plenty of tournaments made that are only for under 1200 for novice, and some I've seen that are capped around 1700 and under, but it always feels like the rest of available tournaments being made have no upper entry rating cap.

Is this just due to the normal ELO rating bell curve of all the players here put together? Or is it because the 2000+ rated players are so few here that it just makes sense to include them?

I do not play in tournaments, but I did a simple search of tournaments in the forum and there seem to be many available; or have I missed the point of your question?
