Ladder clogged by non-players

The 14-day ladder has gone and got clogged up a bit owing to two players (shown as playing each other) who are both leaving the ladder. Their game is left in limbo, unplayed for a few months now, jamming challenge opportunities for others.

So we've got three places being effectively blocked on the ladder at the moment. Can there not be some sort of automatic time-out (as in most tournaments) that can kick in to avoid this kind of blockage?

and at present is players positioned 2 ...[text shortened]... ut (as in most tournaments) that can kick in to avoid this kind of blockage?
