I've been playing with this idea for a while now and i thought i'd post it to get some input from you guys. It is an idea i had OTB a few years ago on the white side of the Chigorin defence and having just played a blitz game in this opening i thought i'd throw it out to the community for scrutiny...
For those unfamiliar with this opening, the opening moves are 1.d4 ..Nc6 2.c4 ..d5 3.Nf3 ..Bg4 (or as in this game, it can be reached via other move orders..)
1. Nf3 Nc6 2. d4 d5 3. c4 Bg4 4. Ne5 {This is my idea, normally play would continue cxd5, or Nc3, or Qb3 with a few other lesser used moves. My idea by playing Ne5 is that, after the exchange of knights, black loses the use of f6 for his knight which hampers his development. The doubled pawn isn't an immediate problem for white.} 4... Nxe5 5. dxe5 d4 {Not a bad idea, trying to hamper the development of he Nb1} 6. Qb3 {Obviously this threatens g7, but it also removes the pin on e2 and prevents a future ..Bb4+ where black can follow up by developing his knight to e7, obviously after ..e6 which black has to play} 6... Qc8 7. e3 dxe3 {No more doubled pawns! The rest of the game is probably not played very accurately, but i'm curious what people think if the opening...?} 8. Bxe3 e6 9. Nc3 Ne7 10. h3 Bf5 11. g4 Bg6 12. h4 h6 13. O-O-O Nc6 14. f4 Bb4 15. Bg2 Bxc3 16. Qxc3 Ne7 17. Bc5 Nc6 18. Bxc6+ bxc6 19. Qf3 Qb7 20. f5 exf5 21. gxf5 Bh7 22. Rhg1 g6 23. fxg6 Bxg6 24. Rxg6 fxg6 25. e6 Qc8 26. Qf7

Very last Black move c8 so I played Qc8.
Not changed nothng else so if there is any spelling errors or mis-analysis
then it's not mine (this time.)

Thank you! I'll edit this into my original post so the thread is easier. 🙂

What were you doing saving it up for a special moment or
two surprie a big gun with it.
I think this game is better than the posted game.

Wow i'd forgotten all about that game! I think i stumbled on the idea even earlier as it happens. I played what is possibly my best ever club game in this opening. It was one of those games where black just suffered from beginning to end. My club chairman enjoyed the game so much he took my score sheet off me to publish the game in the club magazine and i never saw it again! :'(

No problem postig with one. I've no idea what you are doing wrong.
You may have the wrong font (one of these piece displaying fonts) and
when transposing from that into....what ever the font is on here, then an
error happens. Just a guess.
