Swiss G. posted a game a few days ago showing a 'Deep Mode' continuation
that led to mate. Never used the feature myself. (he's right it takes a while to
get it right.)
Fat Lady posted a game I later used in a Blog where he played the Bishop's opening.
So I played the Bishop's Opening and set up a Deep Mode Trap.
1. e4 e5 2. Bc4 {Inspired by a recent game of Fat Lady's. I cannot recall playing this OTB.} 2... Bc5 {Er...now what. 3.b4 and f4 is some old fashioned gambit but if he is copying me why not go for that trap where you leave f2 hanging. (if my opening knowledge lacks then I always fall back on traps.)} 3. Nc3 {Now if 3.Nc6 4.Qg4 Qf6 5.Nd5 and the trap has sprung.} 3... d6 {erm....that's looks OK. Develop and see what happens.} 4. d3 Nf6 5. Nf3 O-O {Aha. He's castled. Sometimes you can castle too early, let's see what happens.} 6. Bg5 {Already thinking of Nd5 and 0-0-0 and h4-h5 ideas.} 6... Bg4 7. Qd2 {Am I getting an open g-file?} 7... Bxf3 {Yes.} 8. gxf3 Nc6 {This is getting interesting, I recall thinking perhaps I was walking into some swap off trick. I just have to see it.} 9. Nd5 Nd4 {I've since checked and this position has been seen OTB and on here with White now playing the miserable 10 Qd1. It's a move I just cannot bring myself to play. Let's see what happens.} 10. Bxf6 Nxf3+ 11. Ke2 Nxd2 12. Bxd8 {Now I saw it and set up the following conditional continuation using Deep Mode.} 12... Nxc4 13. Be7 {Black must lose the exchange but here can play Nb6 (get the Knights off) and it's 2 Rooks v Rook + good Bishop and pawn. A long haul ahead. Instead Black spots what I hoped he would spot.} 13... Rfe8 14. dxc4 c6 {The Knight moves, the e7 Bishop falls and Black is OK.} 15. Nf6+ {What I liked about this is that I'm springing the trap whilst I'm off doing something else. Brilliant. You log on and find you have checkmated someone.} 15... gxf6 {15....Kh8 16.Nxe8 and White is a Rook up.} 16. Rhg1+ Kh8 17. Bxf6# {My opponent played it out to the mate then sent a PM saying it was the only natural conclussion adding it's was wonderful. Thank you talzamir. You are gentleman and a fellow chess player.}

Actually use 'deep' mode? Me? Not so much. I played that game on chess.com. 😛

So he actually saw the checkmate coming and decided to give you the immediate satisfaction rather than drag it out by playing a rook down.
