Ideas Begind the Openings

Only Chess

1 edit

Was looking for something else found an old Rueben Fine book.

Used it as the inspiration for a Blog.

One lad in the 2014 Championship has caught two players
with the same 4-5 move opening trap.

(when does Round Two start? Or has it and I've dipped out.)

Mention Rueben Fine and someone will mention his book on Endings.
I found a few simple RHP blunders in KRP + KR endings.

Forgot to mention.

I have made the Wiki Chess Records page.

Which band were you in? The Three Pins?

Yes the three pins.

It was pointed out to me after the game what I had done.
Three pieces can take the Knight giving mate - the three pieces are pinned to the King,

Fame at last.

There are probably a lot of people who did not get this reference, but this was pretty funny! McKinley Morganfield would approve!

Here are the rules:

You lot supply the bad moves and I'll do the jokes.

I'm going my best!

Btw, I loved your line about showing Carlsen's games. Not quite as good as the explanation for the wee green light, but made me literally laugh out loud.

Thank you.
I hope Greenpawn didn't mind me muddying the waters.
I'll leave the jokes to him now! 😉

I had this thread on my mind when I managed to get this position in the blitz room earlier (white to play):

Luckily for me (white) my opponent resigned. There's an elegant forced mate but it's beyond my powers of visualisation, at least in the minute I had left.
