An OTB game ending with perhaps just a wee piece of luck.
Leading onto some RHP games with the same mating theme.

A trio of RHP games I happened upon by chance 'Luck'

And proof of poster allowing me to win a £5.00 bet.

Maite - DigitGus RHP 2003 is a replay of Judit Polgar vs. Chilingirova 1988.

I still claim that there is only good luck in chess, not bad luck.

If you play a move that's dodgy and your opponent overlooks it, that's your good luck.
If your opponent plays a dodgy move and you don't spot it, that's your bad move - you should've seen it, no fair blaming your "luck".

What are the trophies for in the picture? 🙂

I have a copy of this book:

http://www.amazon.com/How-Lucky-Chess-David-Lemoir/dp/190198348X

I have only read parts of it, but David LaMoir seems to emphasis Bulldog-like defense and speculative sacrifices as the way to make your own 'luck'.

Hi Marinkatomb,

I live in an old Edwardian house with very high ceilings.

That is a shelf way up high on the wall, I needed a step ladder to put the
poster up all of 22 years years ago.

Those trophies are for league championships I have won after 40 years of league chess.
Must be about dozen or more of them in their various different shapes and sizes
knocking about all over the house.

Gid lyck, yeah, not bad just gid.

In his book on chess sacrifice, Spielman wrote on bad luck in sacrificing pieces, and Vladimir Vukovic developed this in a whole chapter.
