Chess and Mary Queen of Scots

Only Chess

Mary Queen of Scots used to play golf very near where I live on a patch of
land called the Meadows. (in fact she may have introduced golf to Scotland.)

Recently I discovered a very large stone chessboard right next to a pub called,
funnily enough, 'The Golf Tavern'. I reckon Mary Queen of Scots played Chess
and golf in the Meadows and I'm getting the pub re-named 'The Chess Tavern.'

This weeks Problem, which was originally published wrongly in a newspaper.

The first edition of ‘The Independent,’ Tuesday 7th October, 1986 had on
it’s Puzzle Page this position adding, it is White to play and mate in four.

I think I know what they mean and had a bash at correcting it.

This weeks Opening Trap from the London System with two RHP examples.

This weeks Study. A wonderful creation from
M. Elsenstadt & A. Troitsky White to play and win.

She probably posted better scores than I do. 🙄
