diogenes pointing and laughing
at all that plato said
ole bill shakespeare was writing
the nonsense that floated thru his head
nostradamus warned us clearly
of the things that we should dread
and jesus giving us direction
that the children must be fed
all these voices and more
wrote stuff that ought to be read
to avoid the damn insanity
of thumbs both green and red

@rookie have you noticed a change in any of the colors of the thumbs?

"I shoulda stood in bed" translates to "I shouldn't have bothered." According to "Endangered Phrases" by Steven D. Price, the remark came from prizefight manager Joe Jacobs, who in 1935 saw his first baseball game, the opening game of the World Series between the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs. It was a very cold day, and when asked what he thought of baseball, Jacobs replied, “I shoulda stood in bed.”

So it's a malapropism?

Or is it more like Oscar Gamble's famous quote, from 1975, "They don't think it be like it is, but it do"?

By the way, thanks for the citation. I get more out of you in a single paragraph than from Rusty in 10 years. Good stuff.
