We have a winner in Game 6, It took 136 moves but Carlsen did it.

The Game lasted over 6 hours and I’m knackered. Enjoy it (I did.)

This game went so long I missed the end because I had to go out. 😒

Hopefully Nepo can bounce back with a quick win 😉

I was watching on chessgames. com

No computer or chit-chat just a bunch players giving what they thought.
Sometimes we were hopelessly wrong, other times we got the right move.

I too had to off air as the wife needed to go online to sort out her E-Bay listings.
I was a bit fed up but so be it. I had agreed before the game started she could get on.

@greenpawn34

I like Susan Polgar and guest for analysis on
Chess 24.
It's usually those 2 coming up with possible moves without the engine.

The other options are too much chit chat instead of possible variations.
They focus on complete beginners too much with explanations for beginners 🙄
They also look at engine moves too much.

I move from site to site during the games just to see what is going on everywhere 🙃

Hi Contenchess,

I watched Giri and Judit they were good but today Mrs C was at home
so to listen to comments I had wear earphones and that was too nerdy.

The thing I like about chessgames is I can block anyone who posts
computer evals (I unblock at the end of the game.) I do not see their posts.
And as chessgames does not show computer evals it's all good fun.

Was this owing to your household's having too few internet-capable devices or some other technological limitation?

More interesting that way.

Only one laptop online which we share, usually this arrangement works
but yesterday she said she did not want to listen to me talking to my stupid
chess friends all day. (she thought me Judit and Giri were zooming).

So bar a very few 30 second flicks onto chess24 I stayed on chessgames till
I was ordered off by her who must be obeyed. I went and knocked
together the intro for game six, came back, was allowed to see if the game
had finished, no! so went for milk and things, game still not finished,
lifted the moves that had been played, noted them up , then lifted
the remaining moves, cobbled the whole thing together.

Went onto chessgames because I thought there was a 3 fold rep.
Nobody mentioned it so apparently not, and posted game six.

That was a day in the life of chess hack.

I do all of my writing and chess stuff (the blog, articles for CHESS etc) in a
study with a computer not online. It's how I like it.

Yes chessgames is free - when it works, sometimes, quite often of late, it freezes up.

That site for a good database of OTB games and here for a much better
database of net games and here also for the user friendly ease in getting started,
playing games and navigating the site. Two best sites on the net. ( for info on
chess nothing beats Edward Winter's site.)

Forgot to mention. The game six blog has a genuine link to Dubai.

That picture of me and Mark Hebden, (taken in Dundee years ago) the picture was
taken by Simon Williams who is in Dubai commentating on the match on chess24.

And that's why Magnus is WC, and will remain WC. It's all very well to spot the cheap tricks that I don't even spot when they take two moves; but the real champions see the long time advantages which win you the game after you've exchanged all the other pieces. In this game, Magnus spotted the long-time plus none of the rest of us, even Nepo, let alone the rest of us Patzers, did.

Hi Shallow-Blue

Yes indeed. This game will rate as one the best ever World Championship games.

We have to remember boh were playing on a 30 second increment and Carlsen
had to see the ideal winning plan (if indeed there is - others are saying it was
still a tablebase draw - who cares?) whilst keeping Nepo's Queen at bay.

It was a marvellous display. I felt wonderfully right out my depth noting it up.
I was more in awe of what was happening than understanding it. Great game.

I'm a bum at 1700 but I always prefer 2 rooks against a queen.

This game is being hailed as the turning point in the match (agreed.)
but it is also a very good game for a W.C. Final. It's an incredible game.
