I have said many time that I think it would be great to have a 'notes' page when playing an opponent - I have played many games and simply cannot remember the details and comments made.

Surely it must be possible to have a notes 'section' for each opponent so that when a new game is started I can click on it and see details I have noted about this person.

EG - I am playing against someone I have played many times; I cannot possibly remember details like home Country, first name, wife's name, dogs' name etc etc.

I have been here for a long time; more than most; but this is something I feel most strongly about.

How do you guys remember the details about your opponents?

I put them in my contacts list with a prefix RHP. It doesn't need to be kept in this chess database.

I have a piece of paper with pertinent info next to the person’s RHP name. Old school, I guess. BTW it is somewhat tattered and may need transcription to a newer piece of paper.πŸ€”πŸ‘πŸ˜

@GBS,
Talking about old how old are you ancient Golf Clubs now?

Thank you Kewpie

I have come to the conclusion that, like you, I need a separate database with important notes. It is VERY embarrassing to ask an opponent the same question twice (as I have done recently) so, a separate data base it has to be.

A shame @Russ could not help but I assume he is busy elsewhere on the site.

Now; A note to ALL my past and present opponents; could you please remind me below of where you live, names of your dogs etc.

I will start setting up my data base; I hate to be embarrassed.

I am doing other things right now, but this is relatively trivial to implement*, so I'll get it in, but you may need to wait until next week.

* It always appears that way until you actually get started. πŸ™‚

Could this also be exported within a pgn field, for permanent storage? Like annotations inside wavey braces.

No hurry, Russ, anytime this year will be fine.

Less game notation log sketch is fine.

What if a scribble pad to make notes?

This work is now done - notes can be added/edited when viewing the default pop-up profile*.

This will hit production with another larger update coming later this week which mainly focuses on adding live chess improvements.
