if there are two people at one IP address who want to have a free RHP account, will that raise a flag with the admins?

Yes, but it doesn't mean you both will be banned.

Best bet is to use the 'Send Feeback' link at the bottom of the page to raise the issues with the admins directly. They will then give you the do's and don't's of having multiple users on one machine.

If you are worried about two people logging on at the same machine to use separate accounts, then don't be. As long as nothing untoward goes on, like one account bolstering the other's rating, or something misleading is tried on, then the admins won't have a problem with you. Have fun

I work in an big organization with a common fire wall, meaning that a lot of people appear to have the same IP-address. I don't know if there more RHP members at my work, but if so nothing has happened about it.

there used to be 5 in my workplace who would have all had the same IP and none of us ever had any problems.

Of course not. It would be crazy to screen us based on something as
non-unique as an IP-address.

What they use are little, tiny machines, called nano-robots (surely you've
heard of them). They can travel the speed of light and they know how to
follow the trail of the bits sent over the net. Now, as they reach your
computer they bounce out of it, takes a picture and goes all the way
back to the server where the pic is downloaded to the harddrive (which is
why you might want to reconsider sitting naked by the computer
entertained by your right hand).

Once the pic is downloaded to the server harddrive, a very sophisticated
face recognition program is executed to compare the pic with all the
other user's pics (this is when the server slows down so you can hardly
get the games to load). If a match is made they know they've got a
multiple accounts abuser, and off you go.

I hope this post clarified things for you. πŸ™‚

For us non-techie people, a couple of my friends and I play chess and are not above updating a game when we are at their house for the weekend from our laptops. (Yeah, vacation homes.) Does the system know we're different people or not? I'm making an assumption that it can see if we're mostly at different addresses.

Mr. Kamprad's home convenience store? That's Swedish, and biiig.

Anyway, I work for a merely medium-sized company, and got pointed at this site by two of my colleagues. We, too, are behind the same firewall. I have yet to encounter any problems.
