Has anyone seen this attack made on the Caro-Kann?
Does anyone know if it is a named variation and, if so, what that name is?

Well...f4 is very dangerous unless you have the sharp lines worked out

It is the bearattack,in some countries known as the hunting variation. 😉

there seems to be about 19 games from the position 1 e4 c6 2 f4 d5

i prefer the black pieces in this position, especially if white advances with 3 e5... but i tend to play the french defence. On the plus side, you will get your opponent out of his "book" which can only be a good thing! hope this helps🙂

I forget the name, but you might want to try 2..e4, if fxe4, the queen has a nasty check : )
