White announced his intention to play 1.f3 2.Kf2 3.Kg3 and 4.Kh4 as his first four opening moves. Black, however, was not amused, and checkmated White immediately after 4.Kh4 was played. How?

I can't believe it. I think I've actually got one of SG's puzzles!

    Good problem.

First thing I did was to scan the 1400 DB to see if anybody on here
has been brave enough to make these opening move.

And yes the base comes up trumps again. (well close enough).
The King goes to f2-g4-h4 (and even h5 to be mated) all in 9 moves.

There is a task for SG.
Find a mate that is NOT in the 1400 DB. 😉

SG, you make the "only chess" forum a better place. If there were a way to recommend a player instead of a thread, I would do so.

How on Earth did that White player get to the 1400s, playing like that?

It's just one game where someone messes about, gets caught in
a hopless postion and carries just for the fun of it.

A lot of guys just play for the fun of it.

Wish I had held off posting as it appears to have taken over SG thread.

You should try the problem, I'm not sure if it will help in OTB play
but you get the 'buzz' from having solved it.

Chase the Buzz...it's better than any drug....but be warned.....it's very addictive.

I looked at the solution too early so I've ruined it for myself now.

    Cheer up.

I'm sure SG will be along with another one.

He is probaly sitting at this very minute in his dimly lit bedsit, with a broken radio,
a threadbare carpet and an old battered chess set brewing up something
nasty and nigh impossible for us to solve to give the site it's weekly fix.

    🙂
