So I was testing the 50 move rule on Frits. Just shuffeling with the knights
After the first 100 half moves (move #50 of black). The program claimed a draw upon the 50 move rule.
Seems fine. So on move 50 I moved a black pawn.
Now on move #100 of white he claimed a draw upon the 50 move rule.
Now 99 halfmoves are played. So I moved a white pawn.
Now on move #150 of white, after 100 halfmoves he claims a draw again.
What am I missing here?😕

Where is the problem?
Originally posted by Winston SmithSurely White cannot claim on his 101st move as Black has then only made 49 moves since the capture, (his 52d to 100th inclusive). Black can claim when making his 101st move, but White must wait until his 102nd move.
For the 50 move rule the count starts anew after a pawnmove or capture.so if you play, for instance,51....,gxf6 it's draw at move 101 (if no other pawnmoves or captures occur)
Originally posted by Essex 3Yes,so draw at move 101 (if claimed).

Allow me to qoute myself: "It should claim draw at 101....,N anywhere"
