Cheers! First reply to my first post!....

I seem to be very prone to errors in Blitz games so was playing it very safe...! The panic I sometimes feel is quite overwhelming, although here I was quite happy as I messed up my opening and thought I was done for from quite early on.

White blundered horribly on 20. a4...

20. Rxb2 and white would have been winning or at least in a strong position

Then white hung his knight for no good reason on move 22 and the game was resignable for white at every point thereafter. I'm surprised he chose to play on another 40 moves with an utterly lost position. In RHP blitz, people usually just disconnect after making those kind of blunders.

I think 21 n x b4 would still have been ok for white perhaps.

I have never really played Blitz before joining here last week and it strikes me that it perhaps requires a slightly different approach to slower games - certainly having some stock openings and not trying to improvise (early on) too much seems like a good idea in the really quick games.

Were you in bad time trouble or something?
Either that or your opponent is rather optimistic!

Not as bad as I normally find myself in - I am normally far too hasty in games where I have ages to consider my move and far too considered when haste is required!
