I dont know about you but ive been able to pull this several times.
I think its a cheap way to end a game, because you ... i dont know it just seems cheap every time i do it. Anyways the thing i do to end it is either get a rank controlling piece on both sides of him so he only moves back and forth (the opponent's king) and then put another rank controlling piece between the two others, checkmate. The other is i get 3 rank controlling pieces and slowly do 1 behind the other until
hes backed onto the last or first rank or file, then when i move the last piece to the last or first rank or file, its checkmate again. I find it a cheap but effective way to mate. What do you guys think?

There's no such thing as a "cheap mate". All checkmates are valid wins really.

On a side note, you only need two vertical/horizontal moving pieces to checkmate like that.

I've heard that referred to as a stair-stepping mate, among other things. If that's a cheap way to mate then so is a back-rank mate. It's a clear and obvious mate threat that can be used to your advantage even when the opponent counters.

As a reply to buffalo bill here i dont play many games here, most my games i play at yahoo chess, not here because here i tryed a game and waited an hour for them to move and they still hadnt moved. I dont like to have to wait forever.

This is a correspondence chess site, if you are expecting quick games here, you are probably missing the point somewhat...

You're missing point of this site then - this is a correspondence chess site.

i get the point its just that i dont like my games to take forever. I dont mean i want games that go buy in a flash becaaause bad players dont think out there moves. I want a game where you sit there and you study the game, and your move, and then you move, and your opponent does the same, none of this lets quit and get back to playing in a day

I don't see which is your problem since you barely made one move on this site.

I get disappointed here when my opponent moves the same day because it makes me feel rushed. I want a couple of days to think about my move. For faster games I play on FICS and several other sites.

I tried yahoo, but the room concept strikes me as nonsense, I won every game there (so the competition seems weak), and when I emailed my games they were not in pgn format. There also seemed to be no way to autosave the games.
