You can add in game comments by using {} after each move. so [.pgn] 1.e4 {King's Pawn game/Open Game} c5 {Sicilian} [/pgn]

remove the first period in pgn and you get

I didn't know that it was for live, face-to-face chess either. Thanks for the info, I've been using "OTB" wrong all this time.

geezz its hard for a technophobe like me, here is what I'm trying to post...

1. e4 d6 2. d4 f5 {ok, I'm not sure I've come across this lots before but I should be able to deal with it if I stick to opening principles, this weakens f7 so let's play on that} 3. exf5 Bxf5 4. Bc4 {its open to getting immediately hit by d5, but that will leave his e pawn horrible} d5 5. Bd3 {with f7 already weak, lets see if he wants to hold on to his light square bishop} Bxd3 6. Qxd3 Nf6 7. Nf3 {I paused here, Qb5+ is maybe the obvious move but I wanted to rush through my development and then chase pawns if i needed to} a6 {he was obviously thinking that I should have played Qb5} 8. O-O e6 9. Re1 Qd7 10. Ne5 Qd6 11. Bf4 {given his response to this, his last move was bad, he's just wasted a tempo} Qe7 12. Nd2 {another pause for thought here, my knight on e5 is a monster, I want to replace it with another one should it get taken so this knight is heading for f3} Nbd7 13. Ndf3 O-O-O 14. c4 {played almost instantly, lets open up the queenside} Nh5 15. Be3 Nxe5 16. Nxe5 dxc4 17. Qxc4 Nf6 {I think he needs to try Qb4 but I think I have Qc2 to keep up the lines but..} Qxb4 19. Qxe6+ {I think its lost now} Kb8 20. Rab1 Qa5 {he sees the obvious threat on the a pawn but...} 21. Nc6+ Ka8 22. Nxa5 Bd6 {I'm surprised he plays on but a nice wrap up} 23. Nxb7 Rde8 24. Qc4 Ka7 25. d5+ Kb8 26. Nxd6+ Ka8 27. Qxa6# 1-0

You missed out White's 18th move (18.b4) so the PGN wasn't valid.

I used to play that opening as Black myself. It's not very good. I think 4.Qf3 virtually refutes it, though I can't remember what happens after 4. ... Qc8. Your idea (4. Bc4) seems excellent as well.

In your game, 10.Ng5 rather than 10.Ne5 looks very strong. It's late and I may be overlooking something obvious, but it seems to me that Black can resign after that.

FL, yip agree 10.Ng5 does look strong, never entered my head at the time, just wanted to dump a knight on the big hole in his position

Hi ST. Nice game and good to see some honest 'this is what I was thinking notes'
(now that you know how to do it) 😉

Fat Lady's suggestion is one killer move.
I was struck by the note after White's 14th move. 14.c4

"played almost instantly, lets open up the queenside."

Perhaps too instant. 14.Nc6 opens it up as well.

And a nit-pick. Winning Queens is good but never forget the object of the game.
Checkmate.

Thanks GP,

Re 14.Nc6, yep also good (I knew that knight on e5 was a monster). When I took the queen I just expected a resignation so wasn't looking for anything else
