It's been a while since I've posted in this forum and probably even longer since I played a game here. Correspondence just isn't my cup of coffee (Yes, I'm American).
Anyway, I just finished this game on another site. I played as white in a Smith-Morra and the time control was 15/10 rapid. I didn't download the game directly from that site because it shows the clock times after every move and I wanted to add some comments so I just copied the game into SCID.
1.e4 c5 2.d4 I almost exclusively play the Smith-Morra vs the Sicillian because I haven't really booked myself up in other lines. 2...cxd4 3.c3 dxc3 4.Nxc3 d6 5.Nf3 g6 6.Bc4 Bg7 7.Bg5? {( 7.Qb3! e6 8.Bf4 Ne7 9.Rd1 O-O 10.Bxd6 )} 7...h6 8.Bh4 Qc7? {My opponent needs to develop his pieces. I feel like I'm Morphy vs NN at this moment. ( 8...Nc6 9.Qb3 g5 10.Bxf7+ Kf8 11.Bg6 Bxc3+ 12.bxc3 e6 13.Bg3 Kg7 14.Rd1 Kxg6 15.Rxd6 Qa5 16.h4!? This variation is pretty forcing up until this move. The game has become very complex and imbalanced. I have a pawn for my piece and black is undeveloped with an exposed king. I like white here and this leads me to believe that this fianchetto idea that my opponent played just takes too much time. 16...Rh7 17.Ne5+ Nxe5 18.Rxe6+ Bxe6 19.Qxe6+ )} 9.Qb3 e6 10.Nb5 Qa5+ 11.Kf1?! {During the game I wondered why I didn't just play 11.Ke2, allowing the rooks to connect but analysis after the game had the engines screaming at me to play 11.Nd2. I guess engines like to be able to castle but I thought my king was safe enough. Needless to say I still have a clear advantage after this move.} 11...Qb6 12.Rd1 Bf8? {Doing the opposite of developing.} 13.Qc3 Rh7 14.Be2! Na6 15.Ne5! dxe5?? {I guess my opponent just didn't believe me here.} 16.Nc7+ Qxc7 {My opponent actually played 16... Nxc7 here but I decided to show the more aesthetic finish. ( 16...Nxc7 17.Rd8# )} 17.Qxc7 Be7 18.Qd8+ Bxd8 19.Rxd8#
