Short yet instructive and the best way for a player of the Black pieces to learn
about not weakening that h5-e8 and h4-e1 diagonal. Glad see Qxg6 was played,
too often I've seen Bxg6 in that position. The Queen sac helps the lesson sink in.
2...Ng8 (The Boomerang) has been played at higher levels, of course without
the f6 follow up. It has never really caught on.
2.Bc4 instead of 2.e5 with the continuation 2...Nxe5 3.Bxf7+ is not recommended
in all books on the Alekhine but at the lower levels (our level) it scores OK.
Black has to often castle by hand and is then usually OK.
However if they delay this White can use tempo and tricks to get a good position
and a tactically alert player (trap setters) can score well. Here is an example from last year.
