I've been trying to get back into OTB thinking and have been playing a lot of blitz. But I seem to be missing the cutting edge, here are two of my blitz games which I feel I should have done better with and I'm open to advice/criticism and everything in-between.
I'm white in the first game and black in the second.
1. e2-e4 g7-g5 {Atypical response here designed to drag me off known paths} 2. d2-d4 h7-h6 3. f2-f4 {Trying to get control of the centre} Ng8-f6 4. e4-e5 Nf6-e4 5. Bf1-d3 d7-d5 6. Bd3xe4 {With the aim of picking up the pawn of g5} d5xe4 7. f4xg5 c7-c5 8. d4-d5 h6xg5 9. Nb1-c3 {C4 an option?} Bf8-g7 10. Nc3xe4 Bg7xe5 11. Ng1-f3 Bc8-f5 12. Ne4xg5 Be5-g3 {Sneaky move here by black} 13. Ke1-f1 Qd8-b6 14. c2-c4 {To stop black playing c4} f7-f6 {Trapping my knight} 15. Qd1-e2 f6xg5 16. Bc1xg5 Bf5-d3 17. Qe2xd3 Qb6xb2 {Threatening doom} 18. Qd3-g6 Ke8-d8 19. Bg5xe7 Kd8xe7 20. d5-d6 {Possible alternative 20.Qxg3 Qxa1+ 21. Ke2 Qb2+ seems to favour black (taking the rook on h1 allows me to play Qe5+ followed by Qxh8)} Ke7-d8 21. Qg6-g5 Kd8-c8 22. d6-d7 Nb8xd7 {I resigned} 0-1
1. g2-g4 {The grob, different and annoying to play against - safe defence is e5 2.Bg2 h5} d7-d5 {Suffice to say I went for the aggressive response} 2. Bf1-g2 Bc8xg4 3. c2-c4 d5xc4 4. Bg2xb7 Nb8-d7 5. Bb7xa8 Qd8xa8 {All theory up to here. Now black has to attack and make his better development count. Suffice to say my attack fails quite badly and I'm open to reasons why and alternative lines.} 6. f2-f3 Ng8-f6 7. Nb1-a3 e7-e5 8. Na3xc4 Bf8-c5 9. b2-b4 {Probably should have taken the pawn} Bc5-d4 10. Bc1-b2 Bd4xb2 11. Nc4xb2 O-O 12. Ra1-c1 Rf8-b8 13. a2-a3 c7-c5 14. Nb2-d3 e5-e4 15. Nd3xc5 e4xf3 16. Ng1xf3 Nd7-e5 17. O-O Ne5xf3 18. e2xf3 Bg4-h3 19. Rf1-e1 Nf6-g4 20. Nc5-e4 Rb8-e8 21. f3xg4 Re8xe4 22. Re1xe4 Qa8xe4 23. Rc1-c8 1-0

Thanks for taking the time to look through it.
Think I might have actually seen that and played Qe2 as a sac (I was worried about losing the initiative), but didn't see Bd3 coming which finished me off.

In game 1 18.Rb1 instead of Qg6+ looked interesting to me. Worth a look, you can invade the 7th rank on the following move which threatens e7. You could probably have drawn on the spot as Black has to go for repetition. ie
18.Rb1 ..Qxa2
19.Bxe7+!! ..Kxe7
20.Rxb7+ looks totally winning to me.. The rook on h1 can be sacrificed as black simply doesn't have time to capture it... 🙂

Nh3 seems interesting..... the idea if black plays Bh3, then white has hg! winning

Very nice find, I didn't really consider Ke2 - force of habit to stop me pushing my king out into the open, but it's a much stronger move and would have gotten me a tempo back.

Nice again.
15 Nh3 opening up the threat of hxg3. Again, I missed that all together as I got a bit single track minded about coming up with an attack.
Definitely would have given me much more play in the game.
I must say my attack now kind of looks like a last resort attack and I wasn't in as much trouble as I thought I was.
Thanks again, it's really good advice to see where I'm going wrong!
