One book i have (Logical Chess: Chernev) refers to The Colle System, an opening i have grown quite fond of. However when i went to look it up in my other book (The Mammoth Book of Chess: Burgess) I can't find it at all. Any clues as to a different alias?
No, it's almost always called the Colle System, the book just might not have it. If I do recall it doesn't go into too much depth about openings, especially the d4 sidelines, so don't be too frightened. 🙂
