I finished this game about an hour ago in an open tournament. My rating is 1710 OTB and it's my first game against a GM, and I wonder what happened. Can someone please analyse this game? Thanks in advance.

Hi.
I assume you were Black.
Brilliant effort against first GM face to face.
Nf6-e4 (I bet the old heart was beating when you played that).
Leaving a piece hanging to threaten a mate#2 v your
first GM - I predict a bright future young man.

Hi anthias. Why did you play Bh2+ and the Qf4??. After 17 Bd3 why not 17 ..Bxd3 on your part? What was the idea behind Bh2+ and then Qf4??

Mainly because I miscalculated. Initially, I thought Bxd3 is what White wanted: exchaning an aggressive piece and developing his Queen into a more central spot. I tried to find a way to continue on with an attack while resonding to the threat. I thought it was OK after calculating a few lines, but I discarded Rxe4 because it seemed it only gave away the exchange.

I think I shouldn't have played Bd6 in the first place. The whole idea of dxc4 and e5 was just something I made up OTB. Does anyone know this opening or ones similar to it?

Here's another nice game I played today. This time it is a win, though 🙂 My opponent was the highest rated opponent I've beaten so far (1989).
