    Here's my thinking. Game 1, Carlsen DID try something unusual, got into trouble, and happily accepted a draw. Anand was happy with the draw with black. Game 2 was a lot of memorization. What us mere mortals do not understand is that the really great chess is happening within the minds of the two competitors. They SEE moves that would lead to interesting positions/variations, and they make the moves that would avoid them. I sometimes think that the variations provided by the analysts are more interesting than the games themselves at this level. The 'what might have beens' are the reason that they make moves which lead to a more subdued game.
    These gentlemen are playing a tournament to win, not to entertain us. I think it will get better if someone makes a mistake and forces the players to take more chances.
