White mates in 6

Your only hint (see GP? I give them 😉) is "windmill".

I've just WIKI'd Windmill.

"A windmill is a machine that converts the energy of wind into rotational
energy by means of vanes called sails."

What kind of clue is that?

A first prize problem. 😲

This I will enjoy. Cheers.

At first glance, the move I would consider first is Rb8 discovered check and then take the Rook on g8. Is that okay so far? Or maybe gxh3 is better? Yes, now I think gxh3 is better first because the Rb8 discoverec check can still be played. Now to figure out what black's best move is after 1.gxh3.

If you play Rb8+ and Rxg8, you're letting black's king run.

I am getting to tired to think about it anymore now. I'm going to have to get some sleep. So I'm going with 1.gxh3 to start right now. I'll work on it some more later unless I come back and it is already solved.

What happens if black plays 1...Rxg3 instead of 1...Rxh6 ?

I think you got the right ending idea, but I still think 1.gxh3 is the best first move.

This one does not work because of 6... Bxf3.
The 2nd one is the only one that works, but black does not make best moves.

I can't come up with anything that covers everything that black might do. Your line works, however, 1...Rxg3 might be better for white since it guards f3 from your final checkmate move of Rxf3. Perhaps, there is something else in that line that could be done that I do not see after 1.g3 Rxg3. Have you figured that out?

Okay, I see how your idea works now. That g3 first move seemed very unlikely move to me and I would never have considered it, if you had not brought it up. I almost dismissed it anyway, but I could not get my line to work.
