I was wondering if the english opening played a queenside fianchetto every game?
if not....is it possible to play a queenside fianchetto every game?
As you will discover if you play the English, the English is generally a loose and unscripted opening. There are many themes and patterns in the opening, but not as many "lines," such as the Sicilian.
Originally posted by chessisvanityA queenside fianchetto is more Reti than English. According to Schiller (Hypermodern Opening Repertoire for White) this is the ideal white formation in the Reti:
the reason is that i play 1.b3 2.Bb2(NLA)......and as you know...an "unscripted" opening like that can lead to english and reti and colle positions...
i'm trying to make the most of my 1.b3
Notice that white fianchettoes both bishops.
