Any advice on how to deal with a wave of pawns ?

I am a beginner,i lost above game , and found myself very cramped and not really having any plan to deal with the advancing pawns!!

Or any books people could reccomend?

My advice would be to not play moves like 4.Bg5, giving away a piece for nothing

Aside from the losing of a piece.
Any time a pawn moves, though it might gain something, it also creates a weakness. You must look to counter by exploiting the weaknesses. For example, black's ..f5 left his king vulnerable on the diagonal to a pin by your queen. 12.e4 would have given you a break to open the center. If 12..fxe4 then 13.Bxe4! (black can't play ..dxe4).

I think before you learn about pawn structure and what to do with it, you should learn the value of the peices and how to tell if you come out ahead after a series of exchanges, but if you already know that then you need to learn to see threats. you might try mentally listing every plausible reply your opponent might have for your move before you make it. pay special attention to every capture, every check and every 1 move threat, use the analysys board if you need to. but sometimes when there is a lot of pawn moves, u should attack the backward pawn(pawn at the end of the pawn chain that is not defended by another pawn) or place a peice on a square that the pawns can no longer attack.(a "hole".) usually very nice places for your knights. If you havnt already you should probably learn basic tactics such as forks and pins etc. before focusing on strategy or some other part of the game though.(exept endgames maybe, but i still dont know much about those.)

one more thing is that your knights are not well positioned.
you move our knight from left to right then back again...

No books for dealing with a wall of pawns, I might try and offer some general advice though. If the other players pawns are over extended you need to do a few things. First stop them moving blockade a pawn.....stick a knight in front of it, protect the knight with something else. If they do have over extended pawns you should be looking to take advantage of the space behind the pawns and not your space in front of the pawns. Maybe a bit of research on the Alekhine opening might illustrate these ideas.

You lost your bishiop... this means that you cannot possibly have an easy advantage against black in the center... the only hope is to barricade one side and overload the other hoping to catch him off guard... here, this is what black did, he barricaded the queen side and attacked your king side.

At the end of turn 12 you should take notice to the advancing pawn chain on your queen side. Your queen is trapped there... 13. a4 would be a much better move, this takes advantage of blacks poor development, he cannot hold the chain.

13. a4

if 13... bxa4 then Rxa4 and voila you have a rook on an open file and you have degraded blacks pawn structure, allowing for a queen side attack.

Black cannot hold his pawn structure here, if he tries to defend against your pawn thrat (axb5) then you will win the exchange no matter what.

The black kings knight is all the way on the other side of the board and would waste valuable tempo coming to defend the queen side, this was the turning point, after you let black advance his pawns unchallenged you allowed him to wall off that side of the board and to take advantage of the king side.

This is what I see anyway....
