I have never posted such a request regarding one of my games before. Intelligent comment from good players and or Fritz analysis welcome to tell me whether this was indeed a draw from this position, or whether either side had winning chances? White to play.

Thanks in anticipation.

Fritz is often not useful in this kind of position because it doesn't understand that the many positions where one side is material up (say K+R+P v K+R) are often not winning or even clearly better for one side but in fact dead drawn.

As to the evaulation my first glance gut reaction is that the position may well be drawn although if I had to choose one side or the other I'd pick white on the basis of a more active king.

Tempted by Ke4 to stop the king being cut off.

Don't think I'd be taking a draw here as White regardless of what the 'best play' result would be.

White to move clearly has the advantage: f5 f6! Black now has to defend the possible mate from whites rook on the g or h file, giving white extra moves to attack blacks a and b pawns.

An astute observation Mr Mobster. I did look hard at this, but figured that he just had to step his King to one side to prevent this. If I hit the h-file, he moves to g8. If I hit the d-fie, he moves to e8.
And once I played f6, he just had to get his rook onto the 5th rank, an I don't see how I make progress with my two pawns as my e-pawn would either be pinned or vulnerable.
He on the other hand could make trouble with his as my King is kept away from the action?

Thanks Johnathon B.

Anyone else? Really interested in what a powerful computer might 'think'.
